Could be a close match-up at Gloucester…

Our regular side-by-sides below for Argentina (World Rank 8) vs Georgia (now up to 13).

Recall that our empirical analysis suggests that in past RWCs, variables such as ranking, player pool, total population (lower), % arable land have been indicators of how likely teams were to advance through the tournament.

Argentina has 9 times Georgia’s population overall; and 8.4 times its affiliated player pool.

In terms of playing intensity, that translates into both having almost equal ratios of playing pool / total population.

Argentina has 2.4 times as much arable land mass proportion as Georgia.  Recall the historic association between rugby union and agriculture (the game is being played in Gloucester !).
